Introduction

History of the College of Liberal Education can be traced to 1998, originating as a General Education Center. Since then, the college has been devoted to promoting general education affairs and various related tasks around the campus. The College of Liberal Education consists of five teaching modules, of which the faculty holds regular group-study meetings to share both teaching and research experiences, thus ensuring efficient, and effective performance within the college itself.

Liberal education at SHU-TE is based upon “Holistic Education" ideals with courses designed to cultivate students as kind-hearted, multi-skilled, and moral people. Students are expected to develop fundamental knowledge and skills in humanity and sciences, cross-disciplinary reasoning, and creative thinking and problem solving. Student perspectives are also expected to be in accordance with the school motto: being academic, intellectual, happy, and hopeful.
